to have me again

Between You and I a cosmic divide
This mortal life loved by the divine
We were galaxies apart
It was distance I couldn’t cover
Even if I tried
So You closed the gap on me
As You walked to calvary
And now I am left in wonder
But I really beg to differ
It was dark and fear my only friend
acquainted with caves of my regrets
Couldn’t bother a way out
Familiar to Your absence
blind became default
So You put new eyes on me
As You’re teaching me to see
And now I can’t help but wonder
Still I really beg to differ
When You broke through space and time
With just one thing on Your mind
In the Garden, the winepress and the grind
Blood as sweat and fear of death
Separation that You dread
All the burden, our sin crowned on Your head
How is it that You love me?
How is it that You cared to swoop so low?
To the point of death
The extent of Your breath
As You endured the treacheries of man
Oh, to have me again
Just to have me again
